In 2014, IDA won the commission to design China’s first locally designed and built high speed train for China. Our bid won against several of Europe's top transport design houses. The inspiration and design of this train centred around the ‘Phoenix’, which is an important part of Chinese culture, and gives a dramatic face to the styling. IDA’s distinctive design met all aerodynamic and functional requirements while maintaining the design intent of the original concept.

This innovative design laid the foundation for future generations of CRH high speed trains that form the backbone of China’s highspeed fleet.
